It was mid-summer 2002 in Crestone Colorado… I felt honoured
to be out on the land with Maggie… in the morning sweltering
heat… connecting with Gaia…Receiving wondrous grounding
strength and unconditionally nurturing support.
It felt amazing to touch the mud and sand and rock dust and to see
how the different colours contrasted each other, merged, blended….became
one and still remained so individual in texture and character. Maggie
and I made two art pieces each…
In a way it felt more like a meditation and prayer – where mind
gradually dissolved and Spirit came through strongly…allowing
heart and earth to unite and thus creating beautiful art and prayer
on canvas.
In my second piece, I was able to let go more and use my hands rather
than paint brushes and move with the rhythms of my body and heart-beat.
I had my eyes closed for periods also…I felt a dancing spirit
come through from the ground into my body and through onto the canvas…My
hands being the gateway or bridge between these two merging worlds…
It was quite a dance…yet it all happened in the quietness of
the morning heat and in the stillness of the heart-beat of the Colorado
Earth.
So I am great-full for the teaching and inspiration that I have received
from Maggie. When I think of her, I feel the Earth and the great strength
of feminine essence and wisdom. I feel honoured that we share a friendship,
that we have touched each others lives and continue to keep in contact.
Thank you Maggie and keep on creating your wonderful Earth Paintings!
With Love and Deep Peace,
