"A friend had met me at Joshua Tree National Park. She had trailered a couple of her horses
for us to ride through the park to look for earth pigments. I found plenty of sandy yellow-tans,
and was so excited when I came across some black at the base of a Joshua Tree that had been burnt.
The night sky in the desert is amazing and it is represented in this painting. "
